Crystal Cove Mystery Number 1

Sally O’Brian didn’t always see ghosts. But when she and her husband were murdered, she discovered that she wasn’t allowed to pass on through the Pearly Gates. She miraculously recovered but her husband is only with her as a ghost.

She has to find out who had killed her husband…and may still be attempting to kill her.

Sally also wants to help her young assistant Melody realize that her “fake” boyfriend Alan might have “real” feelings for her. Ghosts aren’t the only thing that Sally notices even when most of those around her are oblivious!

But then Sally’s neighbor and new best friend, Marybeth Baker,  “accidentally” falls down the stairs. Sally discovers that Marybeth hasn’t passed, but like her husband, has returned to the mortal plane as a ghost. The talkative ghost can’t remember exactly what happened, but Sally is convinced that it was no accident.

Now Sally has to solve not just the murder of her husband, but the murder of her friend.

"The Ghost on the Stairs" is a great story

Sally O'Brien wakes up in the hospital after being unconscious for three weeks. She thinks she had a dream where both she & her husband were at the gates of heaven. She returns to life, but her husband has unfinished business before he can enter the gates. So he is a ghost now.
Sally decides her house is too big & moves to an apartment. Her daughter wants Mom to stay with her: Mom talks as if Matt is still alive. Daughter blames it on her tragic loss.
Sally meets her noisey neighbor, Marybeth, who has no family in the area. Trouble starts when her neighbor's nephew,Trevor, wants to move in with his aunt permanently.
Sally knows she is sane since her granddaughter sees Matt as well. This is a charming story of coming to terms with a tragic loss; finding a new friend, Marybeth, who falls or is pushed down stairs in the building and dies. And she is visible to Sally also!
Enjoyed the setting on the Pacific Northwest and the descriptive location.

Enjoying the characters and the mystery

Enjoying the characters and the mystery... would recommend it. Interesting take on the ghostly presence and how she reacts to it ( and how others around her react to her "reacting"! )
